About me

  • Almost 40 yrs ago I married a tall, dark, handsome man called Peter.Only the dark has changed.
  • We have 3 beautiful and clever daughters and 6 exceptional Grandchildren!
  • We live in a city but dream of a cottage and garden in the country.
  • Natural edible gardens are wonderful.Culinary and medicinal herbs grow in my garden. The collection is ever expanding. Edible weeds are amazing free food and a culinary challenge! My father loved gardening too and his tomatoes were legendary! Yes I come from pioneer stock who enjoyed the gardening challenge of putting food on the table in tough times. Trying to grow unusual and interesting herbs and vegetables is one of my loves.
  • There are "chooks" in the back yard.
  • I wonder about creative detail in all things. Examining a flower, insect or snowflake under a magnifying glass is fun.Daily I am amazed at God's creative works. Psalm 8 "How majestic is your name in all the earth!"
  • Beauty in landscapes, especially mountains is captivating.
  • I dream of being creative and capturing some of that precious beauty in pastels, paint, prose, poetry or stitches. Maybe I will content myself with admiring the works of others.
  • I have been know to sew, quilt and embroider strange things..ask the children!
  • I am a bit crazy. I dream a lot and am not always organized or tidy.My sister used to call me Biddy...ask her she can verify those two things. However I am thankful that I have a Hubby who writes lists and generally knows where most things are!
  • My kitchen is old, like me and has been my laboratory for a long time.Things happen there.I do have some successes but we eat them anyway. We love food. My English made New World cooker is probably 60 plus years old but bakes tasty sour dough.I love company. Eating alone is not fun. A shared table with good company is a wonderful  blessing.
  • Yes I have collections of bits and pieces ..bottles of pretty beads, shells, buttons, pretty ribbons, old lace, pens, papers, gadgets, old things and oddities.
  • One of my daughters said that my walls are lined with pictures of dead people. I prefer to call it a "hall of fame", as family history and stories of my ancestor's lives are important to me.
  • I have an old green trunk of such memorabilia. It has many a story to tell of very interesting and full lives lived.
  • My forebears embarked on perilous sea journeys for a new life in Tasmania.
  • My Dad inspired me to be creative and adventurous. He was creative. He could turn his hand to most things. He was somewhat of an adventurer. It was at his suggestion, that my first employment was as a Governess in western Queensland at age 16. That was the beginning of a long list of adventures for me. No wonder I still enjoy the challenge.
  • My Mum was my cooking and sewing inspiration.Mum had and still  has amazing energy reserves.Copious amounts of bread, jams, preserves, cakes & biscuits were produced from the wood stoked fire. There was an army of mouths to feed. Milk & butter from Mandy the Jersey cow, was a daily treat. I have many memories of  Mum's treadle Singer Sewing machine and the many articles of clothing that were produced on it.
  • I have not yet lost my marbles, I have a whole collection in a jar in the cupboard! I have always loved little things and have an odd collection.
  • Sure, I have many regrets...things I can't change. I also have precious memories that I don't want to change.
  • Books, I am passionate about them... shelves full, rooms full! Can't imagine life without.
  • Like Great Aunt Alice Matilda, I love having guests, when beds can be make up in every corner.        A house full is fun...peace and quiet is also nice at times.
  • I love hearing of the adventures of others and also having a few of my own. There is an exciting road ahead with lots of new experiences to be had.
  • We are very Blessed.
